Running On a network

Post by NZTWSA_RC »

We are finding that when running live scoring that the computer is tied up and not available for other tasks whilst the tournament is running. eg printing results, setting event schedules, creating start lists etc.

If we setup a network of one or more computers will the software allow multiuser access to the file?

Are there any special requirements?

Thanks.

Even if you are using live scoring, you should be able to open other windows and do other tasks like printing start lists.
If this does not work, please describe exactly how you proceed, and when/where there is a problem.

Well, yes, the software should be able to work in a network, but as it is almost never done by any scorer, I am not 100% sure that it is still working.
You may try:
- PC1 is the owner of the scoring file, and the file is located there, PC2 is the one trying to connect through network.
- you need full access from PC2 into the directory where the file is located on PC1
- on PC1, the owner of the file should go in menu "competition", "parameters", "Network user permissions", and create a new entry for the new user, with "Read/write" permissions
- on PC2, you should be able to open the file located on PC1 through the network.

I hope it will works, maybe, try on a copy of the scoring file, and not directly on main scoring file... just in case...
