Individual Classification format

Post by Richard Crisp »

We have scored our first tournament using the Emmanuel Lion system. I may be asking questions that are covered elsewhere.
I am happy to be directed to the answers.

When I view the individual classifications I would like to see the first round score, the second round score and then the total score. This applies to most of our division here in Australia. For our Open and Under 21 divisions I would like to see First round score and the final round score. How do I do that.
In the results I have produced I have, First round score, second round score and then some times
a/ Overall points.
b/ A score from the first round
C/ A score from the second round
d/ An adjusted jump score after the offset has been applied.
e/ The overall score under the heading round one, round two and overall. I.E. the overall score is shown 3 times.

Problem 2.
We have 4 skiers in the under 14 jump event. Sometimes the are placed:-
1,2,3,4
Sometimes,
1,2,3,3
The correct answer is
1,2,3,4.
Trouble is I don't know how I managed to make them different, or to get the correct answer.

Problem 3
As all the entrants are Australian I see no point in printing either with the flag or the "AUS:" the country. What I would like to do is print the club the skier belongs to. How do I show the skiers' club iin the classifications.

Problem 4.
The tournament is mostly made up of skiers in age divisions.
We have one group which is specific to VIctoria which is made up of men over 17 who have a state rating but not enough for a National Australian rating.
I ended up creating a jump division for Over 65m.The "Over 65m" is not wanted.

Would it help if I was to send the file to the tournament to you?
Where should I send it please?
Regards
Richard Crisp
REPLY to suggestion to send the files.
I tried to attach two files. Both were not allowed.
First because it had a .wsk extension and the
second because it had a .PDF extension.
Is there a way to disguise the file extension?

Hello Richard,

Yes, having your file would definitly help.
You should be able to upload an attachement on this forum. (under the edit field, tab sheet "upload attachment")

in "print individual classifications", "printing options", there are check boxes:
"overall" to print overall points (or not)
"point" to print total points (or not)
"flags" ...

e) to print overall results, choose in "form to print", "overall results with points" or "overall results with scores"
the last form, "overall results prelim + final" is only for competition with an overall final (like the worlds champs a few years ago)
Problem 2.

Without your file, difficult to say.
But, try to go in menu "competition", "individual classification setup".
There, find the line "under 14 jump", and check if classification is on "Prelim + final", or "Total of 2 rounds".
There might be more than one line for the same classification: check that, and remove doubles.
Problem 3
As all the entrants are Australian I see no point in printing either with the flag or the "AUS:" the country. What I would like to do is print the club the skier belongs to. How do I show the skiers' club iin the classifications.
in menu "competition", "parameters", "display options", choose "club" in "display as team 1.
and uncheck "Flags" in Printing options in print window
Problem 4.

I ended up creating a jump division for Over 65m.The "Over 65m" is not wanted.
There is no possibility to create a separated division (named "categorie" in software), but there is a "division" (none, 1 2, ...) which you could use for that purpose.
Alternative :
If you use "Over 65", you have the possibility to change the displayed name.
In menu "competition", "Event's schedule", edit the "Event name" for events of over 65
In menu "competition", "Individual Classification setup", edit then "Classification name for over 65

Hope this will help.

Thank you for your quick reply. I have had a lot of fun with your fantastic program. Hopefully I will quickly learn to understand it better and make good use of it.

Hello Emmanuel,
that is better.
It has accepted the 2 files.
Since your post I have started to try changes in the .wsk so it will not line up exactly with the .pdf.

Looking forward to hearing from you again,
Regards,
Richard

Thanks for the files.

Go to menu "competition", "individual classification setup", (not in setup assistant).
and sort grid by "Classifications": you will see that you have 2 or 3 classifications for each division.
This is the reason of your 3. point. (I think you went twice in "setup assistant", and created another set of results)

You should have only one classification per division.
Delete the one you do not want, and mdifiy the one you keep to have "Total of 2 best rounds" in "simple classification".

Hello again,
Thank you for your help.
I have changed several features as you suggested and I am now happy with Problems 1,2 and 3.
Number 4 isn't fixed yet.

New Problem number 5.
The slalom score doesn't look right to me.
E.G. Women under 21 .
4/55/16m. I think it should have score 22. The score shows 82.

Under 21 Men
2/58/12m. I think it should have score 26. The score shows 98.

Where do I go to fix these please?

Regards,
Richard

You can not create your own categories, but you could split one in divisions (D1 and D2):
split the categorie under 21 in D1 and D2. (choose the categorie to split where you have identical rules (same slalom starting speed, ...)

For this you have to :
- in Event schedule change "Selection" for all under 21 to under 21 D1, (and name it as you want)
- create 3 (Sl, Tr, Jp) entries in event schedule for D2 with "selection" to under 21, D2
- in "Individual classifications setup", change "Selection" for under 21 to D1
- create new Classification with selection "under 21 D2" for Sl, Tr, Jp, Ov.
- you can personalise name in both cases (schedule and classif. setup) in "Classification name"
New Problem number 5.
The slalom score doesn't look right to me.

In "Individual classification setup", for each slalom setup, you should choose in "Classification mode" : "Points from overall base"

Hope this will help.

Looks good.
You still have some "Individual classifications" on "Prelim. + Final", where as I think they should be on "Total of 2 rounds".

Thank you Emmanuel.
in Australia our rules have evolved over many years and are a mixture of current and past world rules with some special rules for Australia thrown in. (And then we have some more rules which are unique to the the various states- such as Victoria has Men's 3 as a division).
For the Under 21 and Open divisions we use preliminary and finals, and add the rounds together for the rest of the divisions.
I think in fact I have achieved that in the Victorian results.
It has taken me a while to start to understand just how flexible your program is. I am impressed that as long as I am careful I should be able to make it do whatever we need.

Having achieved a format that works, the next thing I will want to do is create a new tournament using this format but change the tournament name, officials, dates and entered skiers.
Is there a simple clear all scores procedure?

You have been a great help, thank you,
Regards,
Richard

No, there is not.
You will have to clear all scores by hand, one by one. no other way.
For starting list, there is a "clear" button, that will do it at once if you select all events before.

Thank you again Emmanuel,
maybe after going through this tournament I will be able to quickly set up another and not bother to delete the scores on this one.

Hello Emmanuel,
I have scored another tournament. I will attach the file and the results on pdf.
I have had some problems with slalom scoring.
Would you help please?
Item 1.
The Over 45 women slalom is on page 4 of the results.
Rose scored 4/52/14.25. I think this should he 40 points not 52.
Sue with 3/52/14.25 scored 39 points which is correct.

Item 2.
Over 21 men slalom.
Glen 3.5/58/14.25 should be 19.5 not 87.5
Peter with 1.25/58/14.25 should be 13.25 not 55.25

For both these divisions I have set scoring to "from overall base"

Item 3.
For Over 35 women slalom I have asked for all 5 rounds (landscape)
I can only on get 3 rounds and not a best score at the end. I have set the printer to landscape.

Kind regards,
Richard Crisp

Richard Crisp wrote:Rose scored 4/52/14.25. I think this should he 40 points not 52.
Sue with 3/52/14.25 scored 39 points which is correct.
Reason is: you don't have a "minimum starting speed" for Over 45 Women slalom (should be 40).
You have to set it in event schedule.
Item 2.
Over 21 men slalom.
Glen 3.5/58/14.25 should be 19.5 not 87.5
Peter with 1.25/58/14.25 should be 13.25 not 55.25
Same: the Minimum starting speed is not set, except for round 1, but, for some reason, not affect to skiers.
in Event schedule, for round 1,2 and 3, remove it, save record, set it again to 58/18.25 .
To check, you should have a "minimum starting speed" set for all skiers, in "input score" window.
Item 3.
For Over 35 women slalom I have asked for all 5 rounds (landscape)
I can only on get 3 rounds and not a best score at the end. I have set the printer to landscape.
I have updated the file "PrintForms.def" attached, to show the best score.
Copy it into "Doc. and setting\All users\Waterski\Scoring\Data\Common.
Also, the 5 or 6 scores shows up only if your "individual classification setup" for this division is set to calculate on best of 5 or 6 scores.

Regards,

Emmanuel
